Jennifer Nestor-Cardwell LPC, ATR

Jennifer is a licensed professional counselor and registered art therapist. She enjoys partnering with children and their families to honor each person's unique strengths and creative abilities, within the context of a supportive therapeutic relationship. Her lens for understanding the therapeutic and creative processes is based in the developmental, humanist, and family systems perspectives.  

 

She has worked in schools and therapeutic settings with pre-school age children and teenagers. In these environments Jennifer supported individuals and groups to build social skills, confidence and self-esteem. She also has experience navigating learning issues, anxiety, daily transitions as well as significant moments in life such as illness, birth of a sibling, death, grief, divorce, and adoption.

 

Jennifer also enjoys working with women to process their transition into motherhood and their journey thru different stages of parenting.    

 

She specializes in:

 

  • Supporting children of all ages and their families in understanding, accepting and empowering the unique gifts and challenges that accompany learning differences.

 

  • Helping client’s navigate the complex emotions that accompany life transitions such as a recent medical diagnosis, birth, divorce and grief.

 

  • Partnering with parents to assist them in finding the right resources for their child or children and themselves regarding: at home strategies, school environment, testing and therapeutic support, self-care, stress coping techniques, life balance and rediscovering joy.

 

Jennifer received her M.A. Art Therapy from Marylhurst University in Portland, Oregon in 2003. She is a wife and mother who when not working enjoys spending time with her family swimming, walking, cooking, painting, enjoying music, reading, practicing yoga and just being with the scent of flowers.
